This cylindrical art deco vase dates from the period around 1920 and is made from opalescent pressed glass in an opalescent blue colourway. The exterior is decorated with relief-moulded botanical foliage, laurel leaves, and berries, accented by subtle blue staining to the leaves. The piece exhibits manufacturing details including factory polishing marks where mould lines were removed, air bubbles to the rim, and minor production lines, alongside a wheel-cut mark reading R Lalique France to the side above the base and the model number 947 engraved on the base. Standing at 17.5 cm high, the vessel works well displayed on a sideboard top in a living room, dining room, or hallway.

Early 20th-century French opalescent glass features heat-reactive mineral additives, such as bone ash or fluorine, which create a translucent finish with blue and amber optical effects when exposed to light.

Pieces were crafted using press-moulding techniques, where molten glass was pressed into a multi-part metal mould to form high-relief patterns, followed by cooling, acid-etching, or hand-polishing.

Authentic 1920s Lalique glass typically features mould-cast or diamond-engraved marks such as R. LALIQUE, precise relief details, and distinct optical refractivity under varied lighting.

Position the vessel near a natural light source, such as a window sill or sideboard, to display the translucent, light-diffusing properties of the glass against a contrasting backdrop.

Clean gently using lukewarm water and a mild pH-neutral liquid detergent, drying with a soft lint-free cloth, while avoiding temperature extremes and abrasive materials.
