This nineteenth-century antique Chinese Canton vase belongs to the Qing Dynasty and exemplifies the classic English Country House style. Made from porcelain with enamel colours and gold leaf, the square-section body displays hand-painted multi-coloured floral motifs, butterflies, and traditional Mandarin figures beneath a Greek key border. Two gilded dragon handles attach to the tapering neck, which sits above a flared rim and stands on a patterned square foot. Visible repairs include glued breaks on both handles, with the lower part of one handle missing, and a glued break across the neck. The vase is 24 cm high. Suitable for display in a living room, this decorative vessel makes an eye-catching accent on a mantelpiece or side table.
