Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The piece stands at 134.5 cm high, 65 cm wide, and 37 cm deep, featuring canted corners, a panelled two-door upper compartment, a central drawer, and a lower door with vertical reeded mouldings. Decorative elements include ornate brass escutcheons, a shaped apron with a central brass mount, and slender cabriole legs terminating in brass sabots. In a modern interior, this versatile cabinet serves well in a hallway, bedroom, or living space to provide compact storage for books, tableware, or personal items. The warm brown timber tones and striking marble surface offer an elegant storage solution that complements both traditional and contemporary room settings. Keys are supplied for all three locks, ensuring practical everyday utility alongside its decorative presence.

FAQs

Louis XVI style furniture is characterised by Neoclassical design principles, featuring geometric lines, symmetrical forms, fine wood marquetry or parquetry, and ornamental brass or gilt-bronze fittings inspired by Greco-Roman antiquity.

Revival pieces typically feature hardwood frames veneered with fine woods such as walnut, kingwood, or satinwood arranged in geometric patterns, topped with polished marble surfaces and decorated with cast brass mounts.

Look for precise geometric wood inlay work, heavy marble tops with shaped edges, cast brass corner mounts or sabots on the feet, and quality interior drawer construction such as hand-cut dovetail joints.

Position the cabinet as a focal point against a neutral accent wall, using the marble surface to display contemporary ceramics, framed artwork, or minimal glass vessels to balance historical detail with a modern aesthetic.

Dust the polished wood and metal fittings regularly with a soft dry microfiber cloth. Avoid placing liquids directly on the marble surface to prevent staining, and apply specialised wood wax sparingly to preserve the veneer patina.
