Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This French Art Deco side cabinet originates from the 1930 period and exemplifies the style through its geometric forms and striking contrast of materials. The piece takes the form of a bow-fronted cabinet finished in a smooth black ebonised wood. The front displays heavily reeded vertical mouldings forming two doors that drop down to a scalloped fringe at the base, concealing a shelved interior for practical storage. Visual details include a central brass escutcheon keyhole hardware fixture, subtle metallic studs along the upper and lower borders, and four slender, tapered light-coloured wooden legs with swept curves. Measuring 84 cm high, 85 cm wide and 52 cm deep, the proportions offer useful surface space and internal capacity without dominating a floor plan. Placed in a modern interior, the cabinet functions as a statement storage piece in a hallway, dining room, or living space, providing a surface for lamps or decorative objects while keeping clutter concealed behind the doors.

FAQs

French Art Deco furniture from the 1920s and 1930s is characterised by geometric forms, bold fluting, strong colour contrasts, and structured architectural lines.

Craftsmen utilised dark ebonised or lacquered woods paired with contrasting gilded or lighter timber legs, alongside decorative brass keyplates and handles.

Authentic pieces feature handcrafted dovetail joinery, solid timber core structures beneath lacquered finishes, and period-accurate brass hardware or lock mechanisms.

Position the cabinet as an accent piece against a neutral wall, paired with a sculptural mirror or minimalist table lamp to complement its structured silhouette.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners, direct sunlight, or placement near heat sources to preserve the original finish.
