The George I style, spanning the early 18th century, is characterised by architectural proportions, the widespread adoption of walnut timber, and restrained ornamentation that often highlighted figured veneers.

These pieces were typically constructed using solid pine or oak carcases faced with figured walnut veneers, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers and brass loop handles.

Authenticity is assessed by examining timber ageing, hand-cut dovetailing, traditional backboards, original or period-correct brass hardware, and natural wear patterns consistent with age.

A miniature chest can be placed on a console table, desk, or chest of drawers to add historical texture and practical surface storage for small accessories.

Preserve the timber by keeping the piece out of direct sunlight, avoiding extreme humidity fluctuations, and periodically applying a microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood.
