Savona majolica refers to tin-glazed earthenware manufactured in the Ligurian town of Savona, Italy, which reached its artistic zenith during the 17th and 18th centuries, renowned for its distinctive blue and white motifs.

These vessels are crafted from local clay, fired into earthenware, and coated with an opaque tin-lead glaze known as a bianco, upon which metallic oxide pigmentsprimarily cobalt bluewere hand-painted before a final glaze firing.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-thrown potting irregularities, fine crazing within the glaze, subtle iron-spotting in the clay body, and hand-painted cobalt decorations that show tonal variations characteristic of pre-industrial pigment preparation.

Such a historical object serves as a striking focal point when displayed singly on a minimalist console table or bookshelf, allowing the intricate hand-painted details to contrast with clean architectural lines.

Preservation requires keeping the item away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity, avoiding water immersion or chemical cleaning agents, and dusting gently with a dry, soft cloth.
