We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Art Deco emerged in France in the 1910s and gained international prominence during the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and the use of luxurious materials such as burr walnut, chrome, and exotic veneers.

These pieces typically feature high-grade timber cores, such as mahogany or pine, overlaid with highly figured decorative wood veneers like burr walnut. Construction involves precise cabinet-making techniques, often incorporating stepped or curved silhouettes and polished finishes.

Authentic pieces generally display distinctive period characteristics such as symmetrical geometric patterns, waterfall edges, book-matched veneer grains, and original hardware. Makers marks or labels from notable workshops also assist verification.

An Art Deco cabinet functions well as a statement piece in contemporary living spaces, dining rooms, or home offices. Pair it with minimalist decor, neutral backdrops, and metallic accents to highlight the rich figuring of the wood.

Protect the polished wood surface by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent fading and cracking. Clean regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically to maintain the lustre of the veneer.
