This earthenware art pottery vase originates from the Arts and Crafts period, standing 36 cm high, 25 cm wide, and 20 cm deep. The body is finished in a glossy green and blue coloured glaze, complemented by twin loop handles and an incised stylized bird motif with sgraffito carving. Visible details include a flared rim with a reglued chip, scattered glaze flakes, and moulded decorative scrollwork across the curved surface. Placed upon a sideboard top in an English country house interior, the vessel serves as a decorative display piece. The pottery body displays tonal variations of turquoise blue and deep forest green across the relief decoration, alongside polished curving handles rising from the shoulder to the neck. The structural design suits interior placements where ceramic works from the late nineteenth century add texture and historical context.

Brannam Barum Ware refers to art pottery produced by C.H. Brannam at the Royal Barum Pottery in Barnstaple, Devon, during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries, aligned with the British Arts and Crafts movement.

These vessels were hand-thrown using local red earthenware clay, coated in slip, decorated using incised sgraffito techniques, and finished with rich lead glazes in shades of green, blue, and brown.

Authentic Brannam pottery generally features incised marks on the base, typically including the name or monogram C.H. Brannam, the location Barum, a date, and sometimes a registered design number.

A glazed pottery vase functions as a focal decorative accent on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or bookshelf, complementing natural timber furniture and clean architectural lines.

Clean antique earthenware ceramics using a soft, damp cloth with warm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding full submersion or abrasive chemicals that might harm delicate glazes.
