A fusee bracket clock is a portable spring-driven timepiece developed in the seventeenth century, designed to sit on a bracket or table, utilizing a conical pulley to maintain even tension as the mainspring unwinds.

These clocks typically feature cases constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany, ebony, or rosewood, complemented by fire-gilt brass mounts, painted white enamel dials, and convex glass bezels.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-engraved backplates bearing the makers signature, high-quality fusee movements, traditional joinery in the wooden case, and period-appropriate brass hardware without modern tooling marks.

Such a timepiece serves as a focal point on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or sideboard, adding historical gravity and architectural interest to contemporary living spaces.

They require placement away from direct sunlight and draughts, regular professional servicing every three to five years by a horologist, and careful handling when winding to preserve the delicate mechanical movement.
