Regency longcase clocks were produced during the British Regency era in the early 19th century, characterised by classical proportions, clean architectural lines, and the refined use of imported timbers such as mahogany.

These clocks are typically constructed from solid pine or oak carcases veneered with highly figured flame mahogany, featuring brass dial faces, steel hands, and weight-driven mechanical movements.

Authenticity is determined by examining the dovetail joints, hand-painted or engraved brass dial signatures, original weight and pendulum systems, and the natural oxidisation and patination of the wood veneers.

A longcase clock serves as a strong vertical architectural element and is best placed in a hallway, landing, or living room to anchor the space with traditional craftsmanship and historical character.

Preservation requires keeping the clock away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting, periodic professional mechanical servicing, and dusting with a dry, soft lint-free cloth.
