Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Moorcroft pottery is renowned for its distinct tubelined ceramic designs, founded by William Moorcroft in the early 20th century. The Anemone pattern was introduced by Walter Moorcroft in the post-war era, specifically around 1952, becoming one of the most enduring floral motifs of the Stoke-on-Trent studio.

Moorcroft pieces are crafted from high-grade clay and decorated using the tubelining technique. Artisans apply a raised clay outline by hand onto the unglazed body, which is then hand-painted with vibrant metallic oxide colours before being glazed and fired multiple times in a kiln.

Authentic Moorcroft pieces feature specific backstamps, impressed marks, and signature ciphers corresponding to different production periods. Look for hand-painted monograms, Made in England marks, and paper labels such as the Potter to the late Queen Mary warrant used historically.

Moorcroft vases add a touch of rich colour and artisanal texture to contemporary spaces. They can be displayed as standalone sculptural objects on a mantelpiece, sideboard top, or bookshelf where the intricate glazes and raised tubework catch natural light.

To preserve vintage ceramics, dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive scourers. Keep pieces out of direct, prolonged sunlight to prevent colour fading, and never submerge antique pottery in water if it features historical paper labels.
