Art Deco opalescent glass emerged in France during the early 20th century, championed by master glassmakers who utilised chemical additives to create milky, light-refracting effects that changed colour depending on the angle of illumination.

These pieces are typically crafted from high-lead crystal or pressed glass, utilising complex moulding, frosting, and acid-etching techniques to achieve high-contrast textures between clear and satin-finished surfaces.

Authentic pieces typically feature acid-etched, sandblasted, or engraved signatures matching the production period, alongside crisp mould details, specific weight characteristics, and characteristic opalescent light refraction.

Place the piece on a dark wood sideboard or a minimalist coffee table where natural light can pass through the translucent glass, highlighting the moulded relief details without adding visual clutter.

Wash the item gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild, non-abrasive soap, drying it immediately with a lint-free microfibre cloth to prevent water spots and protect the delicate frosted surfaces.
