Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco glassware flourished during the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by stylised motifs, geometric forms, and innovative manufacturing techniques. Rene Lalique was a pioneer in this movement, transitioning from jewellery to master glassmaking, utilising moulded and opalescent glass to create distinctive decorative objects.

These pieces are typically crafted from high-quality pressed or moulded glass, often incorporating techniques such as acid staining, enamelling, or frosting to create contrast and depth. The glass formulation frequently includes proprietary recipes developed by the maker to achieve specific colours like amber, opalescent blue, or clear finishes.

Authentication relies on examining signature marks, such as moulded or engraved signatures like R. Lalique, alongside the weight, mould seams, and quality of the finish. Genuine items exhibit precise detailing in the relief motifs and appropriate wear patterns consistent with their age.

A statement art glass piece works effectively as a focal point on a coffee table, sideboard, or open shelving unit. Pairing it with minimalist surrounding decor allows the intricate textures and rich tones of the glass to stand out without visual clutter.

Antique glass should be hand-washed gently using lukewarm water and a mild, non-abrasive detergent, avoiding harsh chemicals or dishwasher cycles. Care must be taken to support the base properly during handling and to keep pieces away from direct, prolonged sunlight to prevent surface discolouration.
