Georgian caddy spoons emerged in the mid-18th century as tea became a precious commodity, requiring specialist scoops to transfer dried leaves from caddies to teapots.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as hand-piercing, bright-cut engraving, and die-stamping.

Authenticity is determined by checking for period-correct hallmarks, makers marks, traditional manufacturing tool marks, and appropriate silver gauge thickness.

They can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, mounted in shadow boxes, or arranged on sideboards alongside other silver collectables.

Preservation requires minimal cleaning with a soft cloth and specialist silver polish, avoiding abrasive materials that can damage delicate engraving.
