A caddy spoon is a compact silver utensil specifically created to measure loose tea leaves from a tea caddy into a teapot, which gained widespread popularity during the late eighteenth century as tea culture flourished.

Georgian caddy spoons were typically constructed from sterling silver, featuring hand-worked decorative techniques such as bright-cut engraving, wrigglework, prick-dot detailing, and chased relief ornamentation.

Authentic period pieces display a complete set of British assay hallmarks, including the makers mark, town mark, lion passant sterling mark, monarchs duty mark, and specific date letter stamped into the silver.

These small silver items can be framed inside a shallow display box, presented on a sideboard top alongside vintage tableware, or displayed under a glass cloche as part of a curated vignette.

Gently clean silver items using warm water and a mild detergent, followed by a thorough drying with a microfibre cloth; remove surface tarnish using a specialised silver polishing cloth rather than liquid chemical dips.
