This Bohemian glass vase dates from the Victorian period of 1870 and takes a tall baluster shape with a flared rim and circular foot. The milk glass displays a soft peach glaze with hand-painted polychrome decoration showing classical cherubs riding a goat within a landscape, framed by white enamel palmette motifs and horizontal gilt banding. The finish includes contrasting pastel tones of green, blue, pink and white across the figures and foliage, combined with reflective metallic gold accents on the neck, body and rim. Measuring 50 cm high, the vessel stands on a wooden surface. Placed on a mantelpiece in a traditional living room or dining area, the vase provides a decorative focal point. The delicate classical motifs and warm peach and gilt palette complement period interior schemes while holding dried stems or standing alone as an ornamental display piece.

Bohemian glass originates from the historic region of Bohemia, renowned for its craftsmanship, hand-painted enamel decoration, elaborate gilding, and opaque or cased coloured glass produced throughout the nineteenth century.

These pieces were typically crafted from blown soda-lime or lead glass featuring cased or opaque layers, adorned with detailed enamel painting, vitreous glazes, and hand-applied gold accents fired in a kiln.

Authentic examples often exhibit ground pontil marks on the base, slight variations in hand-painted details, subtle wear to the gilded rims, and raised enamel decoration rather than modern transfer prints.

Position the vase as a focal point on a mantelpiece, sideboard top, or console table, pairing it with neutral backdrops to highlight the classical figurative painting and soft colour palette.

Clean gently using a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid submerging in water or using abrasive liquid detergents, as moisture and friction can strip delicate hand-applied gilding and enamel work.
