Corner cupboards became prominent during the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries as practical solutions for utilising corner space in dining rooms and parlours to display or store household items.

These cabinets were primarily made from native hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or pine, incorporating hand-cut joinery, raised panels, and brass hardware.

Authentic period pieces display evidence of hand-planed surfaces, irregular grain structures, hand-forged or early brass fittings, and natural wood shrinkage around panel borders.

Position the piece in an unutilised corner of a dining room, kitchen, or entrance hall to introduce warmth, structure, and enclosed storage.

Regularly dust with a clean, dry cloth and apply beeswax polish annually to nourish the wood and maintain its natural surface patination.
