Royal Crown Derby has roots dating back to the mid-18th century, gaining a royal warrant from Queen Victoria in 1890. The factory became renowned for its high-quality bone china, intricate hand-gilding, and distinctive Imari patterns.

These pieces were typically crafted from fine bone china or porcelain, fired at high temperatures, and hand-painted or glazed. Artisans frequently applied raised gold gilding and enamel details over coloured ground surfaces.

Authenticity is determined by examining the factory backstamps underneath the glaze, which changed by year and era. Hand-painted pattern numbers, impressed marks, and the quality of the gilding also serve as key indicators of period production.

A small decorative vase can be placed on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or side table to add a touch of historical colour and craftsmanship. It works well either displayed alone as an objet dart or holding a single dried stem.

Antique porcelain should be cleaned gently by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding abrasive cloths or soaking. Due to the delicate nature of hand-applied gold leaf, dishwasher cleaning must be strictly avoided.
