Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Victorian cranberry glass decanters dates from 1880 in the English Country House style. The set consists of two matching vessels formed from deep cranberry red glass bodies paired with colourless clear glass components. Each decanter features a fluted ribbed lower body, a ruffled neck, a clear applied handle attached to the side, and an original tiered glass stopper with a faceted finial shape at the very top. The glass has a glossy smooth finish showing no damage or chips across any of the surfaces. Each decanter stands 27 cm high by 12 cm wide and 12 cm deep. These table accessories find practical placement in a modern home upon a dining room sideboard top or a living room drinks cabinet, functioning as serving vessels for after-dinner liqueurs or as decorative display items styled together on a tray.

FAQs

Cranberry glass, also known as Gold Ruby glass, gained wide popularity during the 19th century in Britain. Craftspeople achieved the distinctive red-pink shade by adding gold chloride to molten glass during production.

These decanters were hand-blown by skilled glassmakers. Clear glass applied elements, such as handles, feet, and stoppers, were added while the main cranberry glass vessel remained hot.

Authentic pieces usually display slight hand-blowing variations, a polished pontil mark on the base, and clear or pale glass stoppers and handles rather than uniform modern machine seams.

Displaying cranberry glass decanters on a dark sideboard, bar cart, or near natural light allows the rich pink hue to stand out against modern neutral backdrops.

Wash the glass by hand using lukewarm water, mild dish detergent, and a soft cloth. Avoid dishwashers, harsh chemicals, and sudden temperature shifts that could shock or crack the glass.
