Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

This narrow wall cupboard is an estate-made piece from the nineteenth century, representing the Victorian Country style. Constructed from solid oak, the timber presents a deep dark brown finish. The structure incorporates canted corners flanking a single tall door. This front is divided vertically into three recessed rectangular panels, accented by a small round brass knob on the right stile alongside a keyhole escutcheon. Two metal hanging loops are affixed to the top edge at the rear for wall mounting. Inside, the storage space comprises fixed wooden shelves. The cupboard measures 89 cm high, 53 cm wide, and 32 cm deep. Its slender proportions make it well-suited for installation in a narrow wall space, hallway, or compact utility area within a traditional interior setting.

FAQs

An estate-made cupboard refers to a piece of utility furniture crafted by resident carpenters on a country estate during the 18th or 19th century, typically built for specific functional uses within the property.

These pieces were commonly constructed from regional hardwoods like oak, walnut, or pine, utilizing traditional mortise and tenon joinery alongside brass or iron hand-forged hardware.

Authentic items display period-correct signs of age such as hand-planed timber surfaces, irregular dovetail or mortise joints, original lock escutcheons, and natural wear around handles.

Mount the cupboard in a hallway, kitchen alcove, or bathroom to provide compact storage while adding texture and warm timber tones to a contemporary scheme.

Maintain the finish by regularly dusting with a dry cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the wood away from direct heat and damp environments.
