Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arita Imari porcelain originated in the Hizen province of Japan during the Edo period and was extensively exported to Europe via the Dutch East India Company, becoming highly prized by Western aristocracy.

Imari pieces are crafted from high-fired kaolin clay, painted underglaze in cobalt blue, and overglaze enamelled in iron red, gold, and other secondary colours.

Authenticity is determined by examining the body paste, the depth and pooling of the cobalt blue underglaze, the wear patterns on the overglaze enamels, and the characteristic spur marks on the unglazed base.

An Imari vase works effectively as a statement focal point on a credenza or console table, contrasting against neutral walls or paired with minimalist decor to highlight its intricate hand-painted details.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using chemical cleaning agents, water immersion, or abrasive materials that could damage the fragile overglaze enamels and gilding.
