Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cameo glass is a form of decorative glassware produced by fusing multiple layers of differently coloured glass, which are then carved or acid-etched away to reveal designs in relief. Pioneered during the late nineteenth century by makers such as Emile Galle, this technique became a signature style of the Art Nouveau movement.

Craftsmen created cameo glass by dipping a blown glass core into molten glass pots of contrasting colours to build distinct layers. After cooling, artists applied acid-etching or hand-wheel engraving to remove portions of the outer layers, exposing the contrasting glass underneath to form detailed motifs.

Authentic pieces feature multi-layered acid-etching or hand-carving alongside signatures integrated directly into the body or cameo layer. Original late nineteenth and early twentieth-century examples typically show polished bases, natural wear beneath the foot, and subtle variations inherent to manual production.

Positioning cameo glass near natural light sources emphasizes the translucent layers and subtle tonal graduations within the design. Placing a vessel on a console, mantelpiece, or open shelving allows the raised floral motifs to act as a focused decorative accent.

Hand-wash cameo glass using lukewarm water and a mild, non-abrasive soap, avoiding harsh chemicals or dishwashers. Dry thoroughly with a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth to protect the textured acid-etched surface and prevent water marks.
