A Fine Quality 14 Day Regulator Wall Clock C.1870.

A high quality 14 day duration walnut wall regulator clock, of excellent proportions, made in France circa 1870.
 
The spring driven double train movement striking the full hours and the passing half hour on a blued steel curled gong.
 
The movement is stamped A & N and numbered 11584 to the movement front plate and further numbered to the the case securing bracket.
 
The clock has a 14 day running duration with a further 7 day reserve, giving a 21 day duration in total.
 
The regulator movement has an unusual pin wheel escapement, slide beat adjustment and sweep centre calendar mechanism. The movement is extremely well made with finely cut wheels and pinions.
 
The highly decorative polished brass and steel gridiron pendulum is fully compensated with a heavy and substantial solid brass bob.
 
The circular and convex enamel dial has Roman numerals to the outer chapter and sweep centre calendar to the centre surrounded by a heavy cast brass bezel, the dial is in excellent original condition. Fine quality blued steel hands.
 
The break arch, figured walnut and parcel ebonised case of excellent proportions having a glazed door and sides, with the original lock. The case is in excellent original condition with a good colour and patination to the walnut.
 
There is carved decoration upper section centred by a rosette and a shaped and moulded base, terminating with a turned finial.
 
Brass circular wall spurs for securing and adjusting the case level.

This clock is a very fine and unusual example with a superb quality movement and is restored to the highest level.
