Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A clock garniture is a decorative three-piece set comprising a central mantel clock flanked by two matching side pieces, typically candelabra or vases. Popularised in 18th and 19th-century France, Sevres style sets feature gilt bronze mounts paired with porcelain panels decorated in rich blue grounds and hand-painted romantic scenes.

These luxury decorative items are constructed from finely chased ormolu (gilt bronze) and glazed porcelain. The porcelain sections feature hand-painted enamel vignettes, gilded filigree, and cobalt or bleu celeste background glazes.

Authentic period pieces display heavy cast bronze with crisp hand-chased gilding and genuine mechanical clock movements often stamped by French makers such as Japy Freres. The porcelain decoration should show subtle hand-painted enamel brushwork rather than modern transfer printing.

Arrange the three pieces symmetrically along a marble fireplace mantel, grand sideboard, or entryway console table to serve as a focal point. Pairing the gilded metalwork with neutral wall tones or minimalist contemporary art balances the ornate Victorian-era aesthetic.

Dust the gilded bronze and porcelain surfaces using a soft, dry camel-hair brush, avoiding water or chemical polishes that can wear away original gilding. The mechanical clock movement requires servicing by a professional horologist every five to seven years.
