Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French Napoleon III mantel clocks, dating from the mid-to-late 19th century, are defined by eclectic classical revival styles, high-quality bronze or ormolu sculpting, and heavy marble or onyx bases. They frequently depict allegorical, mythological, or historical figures positioned atop a clock movement housing.

These clocks typically incorporate dark patinated bronze or gilded bronze (ormolu) for figures and ornamental mounts. Bases were constructed from imported marbles such as Carrara, black Belgian, or rouge marble, while the clock faces were commonly white enamel with hand-painted numerals.

Authentic period pieces usually feature cast bronze maker signatures, foundry stamps, or numbered movement plates from recognised Parisian clockmakers. The quality of hand-chasing on metalwork and the presence of heavy, finely finished stone bases with traditional thread-suspended or Paris-style pendulums are strong indicators.

An antique mantel clock serves as a focal point when positioned on a minimalist fireplace mantel, marble console, or dark wood sideboard. Placing it against a neutral wall allows the sculpted bronze silhouette and gilded details to stand out without visual clutter.

Patinated bronze should be dusted gently with a dry, lint-free cloth and waxed occasionally with microcrystalline wax to preserve the finish without rubbing. Marble should be kept clean using a damp cloth and mild soap, avoiding acid-based cleaners that erode stone surfaces.
