Fusee Drop Dial Striking Wall Clock, Victorian Rosewood

£1,550    $2,126    €1,779
Clockwise is proud to present yet another high quality drop dial early Victorian fusee wall clock. The octagonal rosewood case is inlaid with mother of pearl and pegged in the traditional manner to the main body of the case, the lower portion also being inlaid with mother of pearl with the original pierced fruiting vines flanking a frosted glass window for pendulum viewing. There is an inspection door to each side of the upper case and a door to the lower case with a working lock and key.

The dial is stamped ''Fletcher'' to the rear and this is likely to be the distinguished clockmaker and dial maker John Wright Fletcher listed as making dials between 1841-1850 in Birmingham. Underneath this stamp is a repairers mark from 1885. <...
