I avoid superlatives such as 'spectacular' and, most particularly, 'stunning' but it is difficult in the case of this collectors cabinet to state anything other than those terms!

This exceptional cabinet hailed from the british museum of natural history and was built by the famous company of cabinet makers, holland & sons. Holland & sons were, in my opinion and that of many others, superior to gillows and many other top flight cabinet makers of the era. They worked between 1842 and up to the 2nd world war and specialised in the finest of pieces and most particularly top quality cabinets for the major institutions of the day. This example is beautiful and still very functional for todays collector. The drawers are large and capacious and the cabinet although only fitted with 18 drawers has the internal capacity of a standard 30 to 40 drawer cabinet.

The drawer are 20 inches by 20 inches and are 2.5 inches deep. For the entomologist these drawers will accommodate the full length continental pin with ease. For collectors of other items this cabinet affords an extra depth seldom found in similar sized cabinets.

All the drawers have closely fitted glazed frame tops and a hidden universal cell around the inside perimeter. The drawers, as is the rest of the cabinet, are fashioned in the finest honduras mahogany.

The drawers run smoothly on patent brass inset runners and have bolts to the rear making it possible to extend the drawer to it's fullest without it being in danger of falling. The lockable back doors of the cabinet give access to this feature if required.

This fine cabinet is in excellent and ready to use condition and I am able to deliver subject to enquiry.
