Miniature Ebonised Bracket Clock originally sold by Dent. With engraved bone inlay, brass finials and balustrading. In the manner of a 17th century baroque clock with brass chapter ring striking on a gong.
This clock has exquisite bone inlay, that is further engraved and picked out in ink to add extra depth to the foliate scrolls and swags contrasting with the ebony body, the dial is flanked by 2 Corinthian columns with trompe l''oeil fluting picked out in bone with brass capitols. The diminutive proportions make it particularly rare and useful.
With a Medal D’Honneur movement by Japy Freres & Cie Paris, examined and retailed by Dent, 33 Cockburn Street London, as stated on the back of the movement. The two train movement is of an unusual square formation.
This is an extremely attractive clock retailed by one of the great 19th Century names.
