Jason Clarke Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The hinged and glazed door opens to reveal seventeen slide drawers all of which have burr walnut veneered fronts and bone draw pulls to the centre. Each draw is capable of holding twelve slides making an overall capacity for two hundred and four slides.

The case has a baised base and retains its original working lock and key.
There are no maker’s marks but that is not uncommon for microscope slide cabinets. A small and lovely example of its type.
