Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large Victorian cranberry glass jug dates from 1900 and exhibits a hand-blown cylindrical body in a vibrant cranberry pink colour, complemented by a clear glass handle and a small pouring spout. The transparent handle curves gracefully from the rim down to the lower body, terminating in a curved terminal against the pink glass wall, while the base sits on a clear glass foot. The vessel measures 18.5 cm high, 15.9 cm wide, and 10.9 cm deep. Ideal for everyday use or display in an English Country House setting, the pitcher adds a splash of traditional colour to a deep window sill or dining table. It works well as a functional water or beverage jug, or simply stands alone as a decorative piece of glassware to catch the light on a sideboard.

FAQs

Cranberry glass, also known as Gold Ruby glass, is a red-tinted glassware created by adding gold salts or gold chloride to molten glass. Popularised during the Victorian era, this technique produces shades ranging from subtle pink to deep magenta.

Pieces were traditionally hand-blown by glassmakers using a blowpipe. Features such as handles were hot-applied separately using clear or contrasting molten glass before the piece underwent annealing.

Authentic pieces often exhibit minor hand-blowing characteristics, such as a pontil mark on the base, slight variations in glass thickness, and subtle shade shifts under different lighting conditions.

Positioning coloured glassware near natural light sources, such as on a deep window sill or open shelving, allows sunlight to illuminate the red hue and highlight the vessels silhouette.

Wash by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives or dishwashers. Rapid temperature changes should be avoided to prevent thermal shock and cracking.
