An impressive quality Victorian museum specimen cabinet in the Gothic Arts & Crafts style. With chamfered edges to the solid mahogany framework and mahogany veneered panels behind this large cabinet was designed for free-standing use. The sloping display top with two very heavy lockable glazed doors giving access to a newly baize lined interior. The four doors below open to reveal a suite of 24 stained pine fronted drawers with inset brass campaign style handles and brass card holders. The extensive storage would be well suited to collections, documents or maps in museums or a shop or for anyone needing a serious collectors chest.Solid joints and construction, with marks consistent with age this has been repolished by hand using tradition polish and wax.
