This Regency eight-day longcase clock is a tall grandfather clock by Thomas Newsom of Tottenham, dating from around 1800. The piece is constructed from warm brown flame mahogany with brass and glass elements, displaying a grand Regency style with a rich age-related patina. The clock stands 200 cm high, 48 cm wide and 25 cm deep, designed to be positioned on the floor against a wall in a hallway, living room or study. The arched hood is surmounted by three brass ball finials and flanked by spiral twisted columns with carved Corinthian capitals. Behind the glass door sits a white painted arched dial featuring black Roman numerals, floral decoration in the corners, and subsidiary seconds and date dials. Below the dial, the long case incorporates a rectangular door with book-matched flame mahogany veneer and a small tassel key handle, standing on a stepped plinth base.
