This Edwardian mantel clock originates from the 1920 period. The piece takes the form of a dome top mantel clock rendered in warm brown mahogany with marquetry inlay, brass columns, and a glass-covered Arabic numeral dial. The timber displays a rich medium brown hue with golden floral marquetry across the lower front, complemented by turned brass side pillars, a small silver plaque on the wooden base, and curling stone-shaped feet beneath. Measuring 26 cm high, 35 cm wide, and 13 cm deep, the clock possesses a tidy overall finish with sound inlays and an included winding key. Placing the timepiece upon a mantelpiece, a desk, or a bookshelf in a gentleman's library brings a traditional timekeeper into a home today. The design suits a study, a living room, or a hallway, where the ticking movement and classic dial offer both decorative appeal and practical utility. The piece functions well as a focal point on a mantel or surface, harmonising with traditional wooden furniture and classic interior schemes.

Dome top mantel clocks from the Edwardian period feature a rounded upper arch, polished timber cases, and restrained decorative elements such as floral marquetry inlay, stringing, and small brass flank columns.

These clocks typically combine solid and veneered mahogany timber with contrasting boxwood or satinwood marquetry, brass bezels and feet, and glass dial covers protecting a brass or enamel face.

Authentic pieces display natural timber oxidisation, hand-cut marquetry rather than printed motifs, mechanical key-wound movements with maker stamps, and original brass hardware showing age-appropriate tarnish.

Place the clock centrally on a fireplace mantelpiece, executive desk, or sideboard top alongside leather-bound books and brass decorative objects to introduce warm timber tones.

Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and radiator heat sources to prevent wood cracking, wind the movement at consistent intervals with the correct key size, and dust gently with a soft microfibre cloth.
