Description

This is a superb hand carved rosewood cabinet beautifully crafted in Bombay around 1850. The stunning cabinet has the most amazing fine detail with pierced and blind fretwork forming beautiful scrolling foliage throughout the piece. There are imposing carved tigers to the sides and feet and tigers in cartouche to the doors as well as a carved central cartouche to the back of the cabinet with an Indian deity playing a flute.The cabinet is in excellent order with a wonderful rich colour and patina to the top surface. It has a good swept serpentine shape to the front with the curved doors having their original catches and metal ring handle. A most pleasing and imposing cabinet with nice neat proportions measuring only 88 cms wide 35 cms deep and 121 cms high.
