An exceptionally high quality large portable campaign correspondence box in quality honey colour oak featuring medullary rays & being brass bound. This is a full combination box with the slope front doors opening to a fully fitted interior having stationery compartments, calendar & pocket watch apertures, pen tray & pen hooks. Below is a slide out folding writing slope with gilt edged leather in good order. (no key or pin for slide).

Inside the panel confirms the retailer as “Parkins & Gotto, Oxford Street, London “ but they were quite possibly the makers circa 1880.

This is the best quality box I have seen & would have have originally been in a household of importance.
