Victorian Burr Walnut Filing Cabinet or Office Chest

Description

Circa 1900 with restorations, rare late Victorian burr walnut office filing chest. Bearing the label John Bennett & Co on the solid panelled back. The rectangular top is in figured mirror matched burr walnut, and has cross banding and a moulded edge. The burr walnut frieze contains a working locking mechanism for all 12 drawers. The two banks of 6 drawers have brass handles and nameplates, and are all over an enclosed base on hidden castors.
