A very decorative and large Japanese Meiji period shadona. This wonderful display cabinet is profusely inlaid with parquetry and marquetry arranged in symmetrical and random patterns using a wide choice of native and imported coloured woods. It has an arrangement of 20 sliding doors, 5 drawers and 9 shelves with shaped and fretted galleries. A very unusual feature is the opening side brackets which house 8 of the doors.
