George III Mahogany Secretaire Chest Cabinet

Description

An unusual George III mahogany secrétaire chest and cabinet. The top section having three quarter pierced gallery, with subtle boxwood veneered top edge.The 2 doors with large Sheraton style flame mahogany ovals within boxwood outlined cross banding with further banding to the door frames. The interior with 2 adjustable shelves and lock & key. The chest section with conforming cross banding and outline boxwood stringing and having the appearance of 5 drawers, of which 2 form the fall for the secretaire. The interior with an arrangement of 2 banks of 4 drawers and a long single drawer, all of which retain their original brass axe head handles. The drawers also retain their original good quality brass swan neck handles and working locks with keys. The whole raised on splayed feet with shaped apron. Condition- very good with no damage.
