Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Tekke Turkmen rugs were hand-woven by nomadic Tekke tribes in Central Asia, historically as part of a brides dowry. They are recognized by their repeating octagonal medallion motifs, known as guls, set against rich madder red or deep terracotta field colours.

These rugs are traditionally constructed using hand-spun wool for both the pile and the warp and weft foundation. Natural vegetable and plant dyes were utilized to achieve the signature deep reds, dark indigos, ivory accents, and muted brown tones.

Authentic 19th-century examples display soft, high-quality wool, tight asymmetrical knotting, and subtle natural dye variations known as abrash. They feature structured repeating Tekke guls, multi-layered geometric borders, and an elem or decorated end skirt panel.

A small Tekke rug introduces warm tones and rich historic texture to wood or stone flooring. It works effectively layered in entryways, beneath accent chairs, in home offices, or within traditional libraries.

To preserve wool fibres, vacuum gently using suction only without a rotating beater bar. Rotate the rug regularly to distribute light exposure and foot traffic evenly, use a supportive rug pad, and clean spills immediately with mild detergent and cold water.
