A good chuval face that is very well drawn with six large 'Salor' guls and Tekke chuval guls as secondary guls. The extensive use of cochineal dye gives the superb ground colour. The elem is of the small flowering shrub design. At some time in its history the plain weave back has been removed, making this very suitable for use as a small rug.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chuval is a large nomadic storage bag woven by Turkmen tribes for tent organization and transport, with the decorated front panel referred to as the chuval face.

These textiles are hand-knotted using wool pile woven on a wool warp and weft foundation, coloured with natural plant and insect dyes such as madder.

Authentic pieces feature tight symmetrical knotting, rich madder red field tones, specific geometric octagonal tribal motifs called guls, and soft, high-quality wool.

Compact woven bag faces function effectively mounted as framed wall art, draped over accent furniture, or placed as small area rugs in hallways and studies.

Vacuum using a low-suction attachment without a rotary brush, keep away from direct sunlight to avoid dye fading, and utilize professional specialist cleaners for maintenance.
