Indo-dutch Rosewood and Ebony Cabinet

Description

Circa 1690, Indo-Dutch cabinet in rosewood and ebony. It has a large, elaborate cornice with concave shaped, impressed and patterned sections, and a series of lion faces to the top. There are scrolling, carved cherubs below, and ebonised half columns intertwined with rosewood turnings. The centre column moves to reveal the escutcheon, and the door opens to reveal 2 shelves with 2 slides beneath. The central panels of each door are fielded and raised with a mixture of ebony and rosewood, with similar panels continuing around the sides. The breakfront base follows the form of the pilasters, with a single drawer in the base. The flared, sloping plinth continues around the front and sides, and it all stands on 3 massive bulbous feet to the front, and square feet to the sides. It is in excellent condition.
