This is a fine quality pair of antique Victorian flame mahogany bedside cupboards, circa 1870, in good condition. Each bedside boasts elegant moulded round cornered tops; this design is reflected in the design of the plinths. The bedsides each have a single working drawer above a cupboard. The drawers are constructed with hand-dovetailed joints, mahogany drawer linings and the original turned mahogany knobs. The cupboard door fronts feature arched moulding, with top quality inset flame mahogany panels and “roller catch” closing mechanisms, allowing the doors to stay closed. The bedsides stand on their original top quality rounded mahogany plinths. The besides are constructed of top quality solid mahogany timber imported from the colonies during the Victorian period.

The bedsides feature a dark rich, yet classic, red and brown mahogany colour. They have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
