A lovely piece of late Georgian/Early Victorian estate cabinet making. The piece is a one off made by and designed for a large estate, would be the sort of thing in the butler’s pantry, or the masters study. The workmanship is fantastic and everywhere the qualty can be seen with moulding added to the drawers and everything finished to the highest level the estate carpenter could achieve. The cabinet is made in mahogany and has a rich dark red colour with a brilliant shine of a patina. The cabinet is completely untouched and is in excellent condition. I particularly like the secret compartment in top. This is a functional and useful piece but also a great antique. C.1840
