Pair of George III Style Mahogany Inlaid Corner Cabinets

Description

Circa 1860, pair of George III style mahogany and inlaid floor standing corner cabinets. The quarter section tops are profusely inlaid in the classical Adams style design of an urn with flames, swags and tails and bell drops and wonderful foliate inlay. This is framed within a box wood string inlay. The fore edge of the cabinet is ribbed. Beneath the top there is a concave door. The top is framed again with inlay, swags and tails with the bell drops and what looks like a pelmet. This is framed off from the next section by sections of satinwood banding. The main panel of the door is inlaid with a classical satinwood inlaid urn, enclosed with 2 sprays of acorns on twigs. The cupboard opens to show a simple shelf inside. At the front there are 2 square tapering feet which are string inlaid. Unusual, clean and stylish.
