Early 20thc Very Unusual Aesthetic Period Demi Lune Commode or Side Cabinet from the Family of Bear Grylls, Famous British Explorer and Adventurer.

Description

Early 20th century lovely Aesthetic Period very stylish mahogany demi lune commode or cabinet with an interesting family provenance. It is from the family of Bear Grylls, famous British explorer, adventurer. international speaker, and star of a popular television series ("Born Survivor" in the UK, and "Man vs. Wild" in the USA). His late grandfather, Brigadier William Edward Harvey Grylls, was the original owner. The Harvey Nichols depository label printed with his name is on the back of the cabinet. The late Sir Michael Grylls, former M.P., was the son of Brigadier Grylls, and the father of Bear Grylls.

A very well made, probably bespoke piece with beautiful curved mahogany geometric inlays echoing the curve of the cabinet, accented with additional ebony line inlay and ebonised trim, standing over square tapering legs.

The interior is divided by a curved adjustable shelf with moulded edge. It is as well made as the exterior. The doors open with full length piano hinges.

The top is beautifully inlaid with triangular pieces.

Size- 34 inches wide, by 18 inches deep, by 34 inches high.

With key, a stunning very versatile cabinet to use as a server, sideboard, drinks cabinet, or lamp table.

In excellent condition with beautiful colour, and a wonderful provenance, this piece will look at home in contemporary decor, or mixed with other antiques.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
