Description

An astonishing find; an incredibly stylish wall-hanging cabinet in solid English oak. This beautiful little Arts and Crafts cabinet has all the visual queues you'd expect from a piece so strongly influenced by the period from which it comes: curved side supports; cut-out motifs to the back boards and the sides; bevelled-edge slab surmounts to the side uprights; and last but not least, the original exquisite paint-on-metal panel depicting a young maiden in profile. There are two tiny shelves to each side externally – possibly originally used to hold pipes – and a general-purpose storage compartment behind the single side-hung door. A truly eyecatching Arts and Crafts little cabinet that could be used in any room in the house. English, c.1890 – c.1910.
