Here we have a fine quality George IV burr Elm desktop chest of drawers/cabinet c1820. As you can see the chest has delicious colour and patina. This rare cabinet has been finished in the most fantastic carefully chosen veneers of burr Elm. The maker has maximised the richness of the cabinet by finding the best examples of burr Elm I have ever seen. There is a wonderful sarcophagus shape to the top and below two doors with exquisite fielded panels with half round mouldings. Between the doors this moulding is replicated in the form of a bead to to ensure a dust free environment. The sides have original fine brass handles and no let up in the standard of the veneers which includes the stunning rear. The chest sits on a double stepped plinth base of architectural form. If the cabinet were not stunning enough from the outside it is breathtaking inside. There is a configuration of one full width drawer over a further six small drawers. The drawers each retain their original handles and are all solid Mahogany lined with hand cut dovetail joints both front and rear. A truly remarkable cabinet in beautiful retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 14 inches wide 10 deep and 11.5 high.
