Here is a pair of superb quality antique Victorian mahogany bow front cupboards, circa 1860. They each have two internal siding trays, with a single drawer to the top section of each bedside. The slides and drawers feature top quality hand dovetailed joints and mahogany drawer linings.
Each of the doors features a working lock and key. Each bedside chest boasts traditional moulded edges to the top and the bedsides sit on matching corner plinths. Both chests are constructed of solid mahogany timber finished with a superb solid mahogany finish. The quality is reflected in the weight of these bedsides. During this period, England was imported top quality timber from its colonies.
The bedsides feature a rich, yet classic, red and brown mahogany colour. They have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
Condition Report:
These adapted bedside chests are in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no cup marks, ink stains or other types of marks to the tops of the bedsides. The drawers are smooth running and close flush to the frame. Each of the doors features a working lock and key. The drawers are mahogany lined and hand dovetailed, which is a sign of superb quality. These bedsides are constructed of top quality mahogany; the mahogany gives a superb colour and patination. The quality is reflected in the weight of these bedsides. They are solid in joint and ready to use.
