Pair of French Walnut Bedside Cabinet

19th century
Description

Circa 1880, large pair of French walnut marble topped bedside cabinets. The large marble tops have a moulded edge (there is some staining but acceptable for the age). Beneath this a single drawer with various mouldings to the facings and a stylish rope style cast brass ring handle. The door underneath has a fielded panel with parquetry inlay, and this opens to reveal a porcelain lined interior. On either side of the door is carving in the form of folded paper. There are fielded panels on the sides and back. The bedsides are polished on all sides and are freestanding. The whole piece stands on elegant turned, tapering and fluted legs with steel and wooden castors and a solid walnut shelf towards the bottom held in position by square blocks. Excellent condition and sturdy. The bedsides are a very substantial size and could be used as pedestals.

Size 85cm high x 42cm wide x 43cm deep.
