Here is a good quality pair of antique English floral carved burr walnut bedside cupboards, circa 1930, by the British iconic designer and furniture maker, Alfred Cox. Each of the bedsides has a floral moulded top with small up-stands to the back of the bedsides to stop items sliding off and down the back of the cupboards. The corners of the bedsides are chamfered to give a refined finish. Below, there is an open section, which is ideal for storing books. Further below is a working cupboard, which features the original brass fretwork knob along with a door locking mechanism. The bedsides stand on elegant carved acanthus leaf cabriole legs. The tops, fronts and sides of the cabinets boast a lovely burr walnut grain configuration. These bedsides cabinets boast the classic English post Edwardian styling that you see in furniture of this period.

Stamped Hand Craft Quality Furniture Registered Trademark “AC” on the inside doors, Alfred Cox was a British iconic designer and highly regarded furniture maker that originally retailed its furniture through Heals in London and similar stores during the middle of the 20th century.

This item features a rich gold burr walnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
